The Djinn of Aerlyn

By Fiddlesoup, aka JF Lingsch

A god’s sentence, a soul’s last chance, a labyrinth of memories—and secrets best left forgotten.

Imprisoned in Penance, the prison for gods, Rod’s journey through its shifting dungeons is more than just survival; it’s a descent into his fractured past. Each level reveals fragments of memories lost at the moment of his death, but the gods’ secrets lie deeper still—and some truths are more dangerous than death itself. Because those who call themselves “Good” never need to repent…

Rod’s world is ever-changing, with rogue-like dungeon resets, respawns, and an endless cycle of risk and reward. Driven by an ADHD-fueled focus that pushes him beyond his limits, he embraces a fierce journey from weak to strong—armed with a versatile skill set across melee, ranged, and magic.

Expect:

  • A Neurodivergent (ADHD) hero who learns to master his mind and power
  • Dungeon-crawling, loot-hunting, and LitRPG stats that pack a punch
  • An unfolding slow-burn romance that doesn’t follow the usual script
  • High-stakes mystery in a world where gods’ ambitions weave deadly plots
  • No harems, just genuine connections and challenges

Prepare to binge the journey through Penance and lose yourself in a godbound rogue-lite LitRPG that’s just getting started.

A Bit About The Author

JF Lingsch is a middle school teacher from San Antonio, Texas, where he lives with his wife and two dogs. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies of any genre, reading books, and playing video games, particularly RTS, RPG, and Zelda games.

Penance is a passion project that he spent way too many days dreaming about and too many more writing. But he is forever grateful that he can tell his 12-year-old self that he did become the published author he dreamed of when writing the first ever Avatar: The Last Airbender fanfiction published on the net. And umm for a quote maybe, “Life is a Struggle Between Good and Evil, Those who create and those who destroy.
